Project SYC was a concept design package for a reconfiguration of the ground floor of a three bedroom semi in Dublin 15. The clients were looking to extend by up to 40sqm, to achieve a social space which better met the needs of an active family of four, with the addition of a downstairs WC a must and space for the washing machine outside of the kitchen highly desired.

Our aim was to establish a seamless connection between the interior and the outside space from the moment you enter through the front door. A corridor, featuring coat and utility storage on the left and a concealed WC/shower room on the right, guides you towards the kitchen, all hidden behind paneled doors. The curved shelf & island guide you into the extension, while thoughtfully positioned skylights define distinct zones within the space. The introduction of the frameless window seat within the dining area allows for an additional living area within the overall layout, making it a pivotal element of the design and an interesting focal point. The overarching concept is to create a sociable, bright, and inviting environment for family enjoyment, all while incorporating discreet storage solutions behind paneled doors.
